Tarn Taran: A woman, Ravinder Kaur (28), was killed and her husband injured in a road accident on the Sarhali road near Gurdwara Takkar Sahib here. The victim’s father-in-law, Sakattar Singh, has stated in his police report that his family was going from Jhander village to Tarn Taran via Sarhali when the accident occurred.

The reports suggest that he along with his elder son, Kulwinder Singh, was on one motorcycle, while his younger son, Yadwinder Singh, was with his wife, Ravinder Kaur, on another motorcycle. “When we reached near Gurdwara Takkar Sahib, a car coming from the same side crashed into Yadwinder’s motorcycle at a reckless speed, knocking Yadwinder and his wife unconscious. Ravinder Kaur received a serious head injury, which proved fatal,” Sakattar Singh told the police.

The car driver fled after learning that the woman had died. A case has been registered under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving on a public way), and 427 (mischief causing a petty amount of damage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
