In the accident, her husband who was riding the scooter suffered injuries. The deceased has been identified as Simar Kaur, 68, of Shimlapuri. She was going to Apra village along with her husband Karnail Singh on the scooter. As they reached near Jalandhar Bypass, a bus hit the scooter from back and both of them fell on the road and the bus ran over the victim.
The victim is survived by one son and two daughters.
The driver of the bus managed to escape from the spot. Meanwhile, the police impounded the bus and a case was registered against unidentified bus driver for causing death due to negligence.
Asleep labourer bludgeoned to death
A labourer was bludgeoned to death with a hammer by unidentified killers in Phullanwal village on Sunday night. His body was recovered in the wee hours on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Sham Narayan, 30, of Birmal village in Uttar Pradesh. He had come to the city four days ago and was living in a rented accommodation at one Parminder Singh’s house in Phullanwal.
The police registered a murder case against unidentified killersa and had also recovered the blood-stained hammer from the spot.
The police said Parminder Singh was the first one to witness the murder and informed the police.
