A 35-year-old lady was allegedly murdered by her friend in broad daylight at Gandhi Chowk, in Ahmedgarh on Saturday. The accused is on the run.

The police said deceased, identified as Paramjit Kaur Pammi, went to meet her friend Jeewan Lal Sharma, a resident of Dhoorkot village, at the chowk. Soon they had an altercation. Following the heated argument, Jeewan with a sharp-edged weapon slit Pammi’s neck and she died on the road.

The deceased used to work as sweeper. She was earlier married to Manju, a resident of Chandigarh. However, after some dispute between them, Pammi along with her two kids left her husband’s house six years ago and started living with her parents at Ahmedgarh, here.

Pammi later on came in contact with Sharma. They both became good friends and started meeting very often, said Assistant Sub Inspector Roshan Lal. The ASI said, the accused was booked under section 302 (punishment of murder) of the IPC. The police have initiated a probe and were trying to catch the accused.
