Woman raped, attacked with acid by paramour in Tohana

A 25-year-old married woman was raped and attacked with acid at Kulan village of Tohana block, 45km from here, by her paramour in the wee hours of Thursday. The accused has been identified as one Kalu, 20, a resident of Rajnar locality of Tohana in the district.

The identity of the victim, who is a mother of two children aged 8 and 5, has been withheld as she has charged the accused with rape. The accused, a labourer by profession, and the victim were in a relationship for about a year.

As per victim’s complaint, she was abducted by the accused on Wednesday when she was on way to Fatehabad and raped her at night and threw acid on her in the morning over some minor altercation.

However, sources said that the victim had an affair with the accused and she wanted to marry him.

Fatehabad DSP Jagdish Rai told media persons that the accused has been booked on rape (section 376) and causing grievous hurt by using dangerous weapon (section 326) of the Indian Penal Code.

Tohana senior medical officer Dr Satish Garg told HT, “The victim has injuries on chest, head, stomach and back, but these are superficial injuries and not dangerous to life.”

He said that they have referred the victim to Fatehabad civil hospital for treatment.
