Unidentified people robbed a sub-inspector Balwinder Kaur of two gold earrings and one ring when she was alone at her home in Sukhmani Avenue on the Barnala road here.

Balwinder Kaur, who is working in the fingerprint branch, complained to the police that two youths, in their twenties, came on a black motorcycle and entered her house after parking the bike outside her house.

She alleged that one of them was holding a knife in his hand and threatened her to hand over her earrings and ring which she was wearing. However, they snatched her earrings and a ring and fled. Kaur wrote down the vehicle registration number of their bike and informed the city police.

A case has been registered under sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against unknown persons.
