The selection committee of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) would meet at NIS Patiala tomorrow to witness selection trials for the women's team which will represent the country in the 2013 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in New Delhi from April 18 to 22.
According to WFI sources, a seven-member women's squad will be chosen during the selection trials from 9 am on Tuesday while the weigh-in is scheduled for today.
The selection committee comprised WFI president and Member Parliament Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, secretary Raj Singh, treasurer Prem Nath and joint secretary Darshan Lal, Naresh Kumar and Rajinder Singh.
All top women wrestlers, including Olympian Geeta Phogat, will vie for the berth in the Indian squad for the New Delhi Asian Wrestling to be organised at KD Jadhav Wrestling
Stadium in New Delhi.
The men's team had been already selected at SAI Northern Training Centre in Sonepat on March 21.
Strong contenders Iran, India, Japan, Korea, Uzbekistan,Kazakhstan and Mongolia are among the countries which will stake their claims for the top honours.
More than 20 countries are expected to take part in this edition of the Asian Championship. Strong wrestling nations like Iran which bagged the 2012 continental title in both, Freestyle and Greco Roman along with Japan, Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia have already confirmed their entries for the event.
