One the richest councils of Punjab, Mandi Gobindgarh is lagging behind in basic amenities and to ensure all these amenities to its residents, 109 candidates are in field of civic polls. Every candidate is sure of his victory and showering promises of development. And with the more numbers of candidates, residents are confused to elect one candidate for their ward. And to get rid of this confusion, residents came up with new method. Residents have put the banners demanding work done before votes.

Residents of Harchand Mill road have put the posters bearing message. "Repair the roads and then ask for votes or do not put us on shame by asking votes without work." One of residents of Harchand Mill road, Virender Kumar said, from long time we are asking the council to repair the road of our locality, however no one has responded yet. So this time they will ask us for votes, and none from us will respond until this work get done."

109 candidates of Mandi Gobindgarh council are sure of their victory and during campaign everybody is promising development of their locality and better facilities to them. Similarly in ward number 15, Vikas nagar, residents have put the banners bearing message, "First good condition roads, complete street lights, then we will caste our vote to you." Amritpal, resident of Vikas Nagar said, "They have 10 days, if any of candidates will start the work, he will bag out vote. Or f no one turned up, we will not caste our vote to anyone."

As the ward numbers have increased, the candidates in each ward are also increased. There are average 4 or 5 candidates in each ward. And everybody is on its toes to campaign for elections. And few candidates are campaigning every day in same area. Candidates are visiting people's home and are asking for votes.

However, people are directly saying them, do some work before elections and we will definitely vote for you. Few candidates are roaming with bunch of 20-25 people, whereas few candidates are campaigning for themselves alone without any support. As candidate Balwant Singh from Ward number 24, goes alone to ask vote for himself. And people are still on their demand of Work before votes.
