The work for construction of a civil airport near the Adampur air force airport will begin soon, district BJP president Ramesh Sharma said on Sunday.
In a statement issued here, district BJP president Ramesh Sharma said ‘bhoomi pujan’ for the project will be carried out on December 16.
Sharma credited state BJP chief and Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Vijay Sampla with getting the project approved from the Centre. “It is due to his (Sampla) efforts that the region will finally have a domestic airport,” he said.
Notably, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had given approval for construction of a civil airport at Adamapur in September this year.
Sharma also thanked deputy commissioner Kamal Kishor Yadav for his initiative in acquiring land for the purpose.
