The Indian Railways has rescheduled the installation of girders at Lakkar Bridge to Tuesday. With this, the railway line, which was earlier supposed to remain closed contruction work on Sunday, will now be non-functional on Decmebr 16 between 12.15pm and 3.15pm.
Divisional traffic manager (DTM) SP Bhatia said the work was rescheduled due to technical reasons. “On Decmber 16 Ludhiana railway tracks will be closed for three hours. However, only two Diesel Electrical Multiple Unit (DEMU) trains will be affected due to this,” he said.
Train number 74966 and 74968, which run between Lohain and Ludhiana and 74967 and 74969 which run from Ludhiana to Lohian will remain on scehdule but will be short-terminated at Phillaur.
The girders will help connect the old court house to Bhadaur house. The Y shaped bridged, which has been under construction since the last 16 years, has missed several deadlines in the past.
