The Eco Club of MM Modi College observed World Environment Day. Its main objective was to create awareness among the students about the environment. Addressing the students, Dr Khushvinder Kumar said that the decreasing forest area was causing environment problems. He advised the students to look after the plants carefully after planting them. College NSS programme officers were also present on the occasion.


The Bhai Gurdas Institute of Engineering and Technology organized World Environment Day in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh (PSCST). Students from nearby schools of Nabha, Sangrur, Dirba, Malerkotla, Dhuri, Sunam and Bhawanigarh participated in slogan writing and poster painting competitions related to environment protection and awareness. Students planted saplings. Hakam Singh Jawandha, chairman, Bhai Gurdas Group of Institutions, said that the main aim of function was to create awareness among young generation to take steps to protect nature and the planet earth.


Desh Bhagat University in collaboration with ‘Aao Gaon Chalen’, a project of the IMA (Indian Medical Association) org anised an awareness week ag ainst the use of drugs and tobacco products. Under this week-long pro g ramme, students took par t in dif ferent activities. The students org anised a rally and went from door to door to make the people aware ag ainst tobacco and drugs. They car ried banners and placards with messages .
