A worm was allegedly found in a burger served to a city resident by McDonald’s at Westend Mall on the Ferozepur Road. Complainant Hardeep Singh said he and his friends went to McDonald’s where they ordered three burgers and found a worm in one of the burgers.

He said they complained about it to the staff, who took away that burger. “We were also offered free burgers, but we denied. I wanted them to return the burger with the worm as I wanted to hand it over to the health department for testing.”

“I also tried to contact the district health officer but he did not attend my calls. I left a message as my complaint,” he said.

However, the eatery manager could not be contacted.

Food safety officer Ravinder Garg said, “We have collected samples of vegetarian burgers from McDonald’s from its outlet at the Westend Mall. The sample will be sent for testing in laboratory.”

When contacted, district health officer Dr Kulwinder Singh said required action would be taken if unhealthy food was being served.
