Social networking sites on Sunday were flooded with pictures and posts about the International Yoga Day. With every passing minute people posted their photographs doing yoga in various parts of the world.
Even the city residents were seen putting up pictures and posts about the day.
On the Facebook page of Punjab Agricultural University's 'Young Writers Association', the association members shared their personal experience and promised to practise yoga everyday to remain healthy and fit. Along with their views, many of them also shared their pictures of doing various 'asanas' of yoga.
Speaking to youngsters about the Yoga Day, they said, “If we want to keep various health problems at bay, yoga is must and social networking sites are the best way to spread this message. Enthusiasm of people for yoga is visible from these sites these days,” said Prince Hundal, a student.
Besides, many associations and NGOs posted many pictures of the day and with every passing minute. Various celebrities also shared their pictures and experiences on their respective pages. Indian students studying abroad were also seen putting up pictures along with friends from their respective countries.
Meanwhile to boost the yoga culture, minister of human resource and development Smriti Irani on Monday announced that yoga would be compulsory subject in all central government-led schools. She also informed that from next year onwards the best performing students in yoga will get cash prize of Rs 5 Lakh each.
