Aam Aadmi Party leader Yogendra Yadav will be in Sangrur on April 24 to seek votes for AAP candidate from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann.
This was disclosed by Bhagwant Mann's wife Inderpreet Kaur at a press conference here on Saturday.
Inderpreet, who also has citizenship of the USA, said, "I have come here to campaign for my husband. I don't have any plan to go back to USA as my children are also studying in Chandigarh."
She blamed Congress candidate Vijay Inder Singla for putting Bhagwant Mann's namesake Bhagwant Singh as an independent candidate, who has been given kite as an election symbol.
When asked what will your husband do if he was elected from Sangrur she said: "The condition of women here is very miserable. A lot needs to be done to improve the condition of women, especially in Sangrur where the women literacy rate is very poor."
"First of all, I think we should ensure the security of women, especially for the school and college-going girls. The government should take immediate steps to set up government schools up to 12th standard."
She, however, refused to answer the question about how many seats AAP will win in Punjab, saying, "I cannot tell this but I am sure that we will win the Sangrur seat."
