You can soon put videos of your sporting talent on govt scouting website: Goel
The Centre will soon launch an online portal where children aged 8 and above will be able to upload their videos showcasing their talent in sports. Officials will scrutinise the videos and pick the promising ones for the advanced training. The minister was here to inaugurate the special certificate course in sports coaching for sportspersons from Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 180 sportspersons from 23 disciplines would be trained for eight-week in three batches to becomes coaches.
Goel said that this was part of government’s plan to improve India’s performance in the Olympics. “The decision was taken after we met former athletes, coaches and members of sports bodies, to boost sports,” he said.
Goel said the ministry was also trying to bring about transparency and accountability in the team selection process. “Steps were afoot to uplift the sports infrastructure at the grassroots level,” said the minister.
