Jasbir Singh (19) of nearby Khangura village in Phagwara sub-division was allegedly beaten to death by the family members of his beloved Amandeep Kaur (17) in Vishawkarma Nagar locality. Police have booked five persons in the case.
Santokh Singh, father of the deceased, has lodged a complaint the police regarding the crime that occurred on Sunday.
According to Santokh Singh, the deceased had a love affair with the girl for the last two years and he went to meet his beloved in her house, where Stephen Basra and his father Zindi Basra along with Stephen's mother and two other friends Sanju and Prabhjit attacked and critically wounded his son with sharp-edged weapons, and locked him in a washroom.
Jasbir then contacted his friends Harjit of Palahai and Parwinder Singh of Rawalpindi village on his mobile phone and narrated the incident and also informed his father.
Santokh Singh said he along with Harjit and Parwinder rushed to the girl's house where they saw the deceased lying on the floor in a pool of blood, even as the accused fled the spot.
Santokh said they first took Jasbir the local civil hospital, but a critically injured Jasbir was refered to SGL Hospital in Jalandhar, where he succumbed to his injuries late on Sunday night.
When contacted, Phagwara SP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told media persons that Stephen, his father Zindi, mother and two friends had been booked under Sections 302, 148 and 149 of IPC. No arrest has been made till so for.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family after post-mortem by a three-member board of doctors.
