A youth in his early 20s has been booked for allegedly blackmailing and raping the 15-year-old daughter of his tenant for two weeks.

The victim was allegedly kept her in a rented accommodation in the city. The victim somehow managed to escape and lodged a complaint in this connection on Monday. The accused, a resident of Jamalpur, is at large. In her complaint, the girl said the accused called on her mobile phone three weeks ago and told her that he would commit suicide if she did not come to meet him.

The accused took her to Amritsar where they had stayed for one week, she claimed.

Then he brought her back to Ludhiana and kept her in a rented accommodation at Ram Nagar in Mundian for two weeks, where he raped her, she further said.

Jamalpur police station Ranjit Singh said a case under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and section 4 of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered against the accused. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
