The Punjab Youth Congress' (PYC) 'Adhikar Yatra' received a rousing welcome in the city with union minister of state for external affairs and Patiala MP Preneet Kaur joining the rally here on Sunday along with local MLAs and senior Congress leaders.

On the occasion, Preneet also honored PYC president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary for carrying forward party's agenda.

Addressing the rally, Preneet said the yatra would not only strengthen the Congress' cadre in Punjab, but would also work to puncture the false promises made by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government during the last assembly elections.

The tall claims of the Punjab government mentioned in their election manifesto to generate employment for the youth had fallen flat, she said, as plights of the unemployed youth deepening with every passing day.

Congratulating the PYC workers on Dussehra festival, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary though Dussehra was celebrated as 'Vijay Dashmi' - the triumph of good over evil - but increasing atrocities of the state, crime, unemployment, unjust economic measures like property tax, drug abuse, insecurity of women and exodus of malfunction on all aspects had overpowered the celebrations.

“There is not a single household left in Punjab, which has been spared by the vicious cyclone of vices, oppression perpetrated by the present Punjab government and the Badal clan in particular,” he said.

The basic objective behind the yatra was to create awareness among the people regarding rights on the youth and pleading them to come forward voluntarily to join the mission against the state government, added Chaudhary.

Patiala (rural) MLA Brahm Mohindra, Rajpura MLA Hardyal Kamboj and ex MLA Madanlal Jalalpur were also present on the occasion.
