The Hamirpur unit of the Youth Congress is all geared up for an anti-BJP rally it has planned for Saturday.
Youth Congress member Arun Thakur here on Friday said Vikrmaditya Singh, the state president of the Youth Congress, would be the main speaker at the protest, and this would be the first time that the Youth Congress would hold a state-level rally in Hamirpur, otherwise considered the bastion of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The rally is being organised in view of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled later this year, and as Hamirpur has been under BJP's rule for more than 16 years now.
While the entire Congress is busy for Saturday's dharna, the district administration, too, has been making plans to ensure nothing untoward takes place. Hamirpur police have decided to deploy additional security at Gandhi Chowk, where the dharna will be held.
