Fed up with alleged threats from his live-in partner, a youth committed suicide by consuming poison.

Daba police have since booked the woman on the complaint filed by a brother of the deceased.

It was learnt that victim Parminder Singh (23) was threatened by her live-in partner Sunita Rani (35) after he allegedly tried to develop physical relations with her daughter from her first marriage.

Daba police registered a case of abetment to suicide against Sunita on a complaint filed by Parminder's brother Jasbir Singh of Mohalla Nanaksar on Sunday. The woman has been absconding along with her five children.

It was learnt that Parminder was living with Sunita ever since she was divorced from her husband six years ago. The woman has five children from her first marriage. Parminder, working as an electrician in a factory, began living in a separate rented accommodation for the last three months after their relations strained.

According to Daba police station SHO Jatinder Jit Singh, Parminder had tried to establish physical relations with Sunita's 16-year-old daughter. Sunita had come to know about his action and allegedly threatened him for it.

The accused consumed a poisonous substance on February 15 and was rushed to hospital, where he died on Sunday. The deceased claimed in his suicide note that Sunita was threatening him that she would kill her daughter and blame him for murder.

The SHO said a hunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accused.
