Youth held for abducting, raping 16-year-old girl

The Haibowal police arrested a man for allegedly abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl on Saturday.

The accused, Sonu Kumar alias Sonu (22), is a resident of Chand Colony of Dairy Complex, Haibowal.
Inspector Amarjeet Singh, station house officer (SHO), Haibowal police station, said a resident of New Dashmesh Nagar approached police on Friday and lodged an FIR against Kumar.

The complainant alleged that Kumar abducted his daughter, a student of Class 11, on the pretext of marriage on November 22.

Assistant sub-inspector Sheesh Pal, who is investigating the matter, said the police initiated investigation and arrested the accused from Rajpura Chowk. The accused, along with the minor girl, was hiding in a rented accommodation.

The ASI said the girl told the police that the accused had established physical relation with her. Therefore, after medical examination of the victim, the police added section of rape in the FIR lodged against the accused.
