A youth was killed and two of his friends seriously injured in a clash over money at local Moti Bazaar on late Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Raman Gosha, a resident of Khalwara Gate mohalla. His friends Gurinder alias Bau and Ravinder alias Kaka, who are brothers, were injured in the clash.

Two persons from the group that allegedly attacked the trio were also said to be injured and admitted in hospital but police did not confirm the development.

Police said that eight persons had been booked for the murder of Raman and injuries to two brothers.

In his police statement, Gosha's brother Manu Kumar said that he along with the trio had gone to Moti Bazaar to meet a youth, Lovely, who owed some money to Gosha.

However, an altercation between them turned into a scuffle and Lovely and his family members allegedly attacked Manu and others with sharp-edged weapons. Gosha, Bau and Kaka were seriously injured in the attack.

Police reached the spot and rushed the injured trio to the local civil hospital. Gosha was shifted to a private hospital from where he was referred to DMC, Ludhiana, but died on way.

Meanwhile, SHO (city) Sarvan Singh Bal said on Monday that a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC was registered against eight persons, including Lovely, his wife Neha, his brother Raman, mother Reena, uncle Yahspal, aunt Shobha and cousin Puneet. Another youth, Kaka, was also booked.

No arrest has been made so far.
