Two days after a 19-year-old was brutally beaten to death for not paying Rs 100 for the fish he brought, all three accused in the case were produced before the court.
The three were arrested by Shimlapuri police late on Sunday night from Pahwa market following a tip-off.
The accused have been sent to one day police remand.
The accused identified as Moinuddin, Mohammad Yusuf-of Vishwakarma Colony and Sahib Hussain of Abdullapur Basti told to police that Ajay Kumar and his friend Rajinder Kumar, who were in an inebriated condition turned up at their meat shop in Pahwa market on Saturday late. The two bought fish from the shop but left without paying money.
The accused also confessed to thrashing Ajay and said that they left him on the road after he fell unconscious.
Station house officer sub-inspector Sanjiv Kapoor said that Rajinder Kumar managed to escape and called the victim’s father and relatives. The victim was then rushed to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), where he died on Sunday morning.
A case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in this context.
The accused were planning to flee from the city to avoid their arrest.
