A 22-year-old youth killed his father in Talla village of Tanda on Friday.

Accused Sukha lived with his father Paramjit (50), a daily wager, while his mother along with his younger brother was staying at her parents' house due to a family dispute.

The neighbours revealed that the father-son duo used to quarrel often.

"Last night, both are understood to have had a spat after which the accused hit his father with an iron rod and fled," said station house officer (SHO) Satinder Chadha.

In the morning, when a mason went to their house to take Paramjit along, he found the latter dead, the SHO said, informing that a case had been registered.
