Police have arrested youth wing vice-president of People's Party of Punjab (PPP) Davinderjeet Singh Laddi Dhos on the charges of attempt to murder, on Monday. Dhos was allegedly part of a group clash between PPP supporters and Akali workers last week at Kaila village.
Arms and sharp-edged weapons were reportedly used in the fight in which Dhose, a resident of Kaila village, Akali sarpanch Sukhwinder Singh, and six others had been injured.
The police had registered a cross-FIR under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly) of the IPC.
Sections 25, 54 and 59 of Arms Act were also imposed on 30 people from both the groups combined. However, Section 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) had been imposed only on the Dhos group.
