Zonal youth festival for B-Zone starts at GNDU

A four-day Zonal Youth Festival of affiliated colleges of Guru Nanak Dev University from 'B-Zone' - Tarn Taran, Pathankot, Gurdaspur districts - inaugurated here on Wednesday at the Dashmesh Auditorium.

More than 500 students are participating in 27 items of music, theatre, dance, literary and fine arts. The festival will be concluded on September 20.

Registrar Sharanjit Singh Dhillon hailed the efforts of youth welfare department for the successfully organising the festival.

"Besides cultural activities, students from rural areas have also achieved great success in academics, research and sports," he said.

He hoped that students participating in the youth festival would someday bring national-level recognition to the university in future.

The festival opened with bhangra, followed by group song (Indian), group shabad/bhajan, vaar, kavishri and fine arts.

On Thursday, competitions like costume exhibition, skit, mimicry, mime, folk song, geet/gazal, classical instrumental (percussion), classical vocal, rangoli and fulkari organised.
