Boys overtake girls in CBSE Class 10 results
Boys performed a shade better than girls in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 results declared for Bihar and Jharkhand, along with other states in the country, on Tuesday. Boys performed a shade better than girls in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 results declared for Bihar and Jharkhand, along with other states in the country, on Tuesday. The overall pass percentage for the two states was 99.51%. The pass percentage of boys stood at 99.55% as compared to 99.43% of girls.
RK Mission, Deoghar secured the top position in Jharkhand by producing 96% CGPA 10 scorers. Seventy-three students out of a batch of 76 from the Deoghar-based school secured the top grade. Naman Vidya School, Hazaribagh bagged the second position with 59% CGPA 10 scorers, followed by DPS, Bokaro (54.54%). Thirty-four out a batch of 58 from Naman Vidya secured CGPA 10, while 120 out of 220 students from DPS, Bokaro scored the highest grade.
RK Mission principal Swami Tyagarupananda congratulated the school students on their success and said that in the years to come the school would target 100% CGPA 10 score. “We have topped for the second consecutive time and our next mission is to ensure 100% CGPA 10 in class 10,” he said.
All the 1,37,623 students, who appeared for the examinations across 84 centres in Jharkhand and Bihar zone, successfully passed the test, claimed officials of the CBSE state coordinator’s office in Ranchi. However, five students from DAV Gandhinagar and a few from suburban Ranchi were reported to have failed in the test.
According to the school authorities in Ranchi around 7,000 students from the state secured CGPA 10. However, Manohar Lal, the CBSE state coordinator, could not officially provide the exact number of CGPA 10 scorers from Jharkhand.
“We are yet to receive the official list of CGPA 10 scorers from Jharkhand. I have spoken to the CBSE regional in-charge, currently in Delhi, and he said that the details would be made available by tomorrow (Wednesday),” Lal said.
Several lesser known schools outperformed renowned institutions in the state. Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM), Shyamali, one of the top schools in the state, could not match up to the performances of other schools in its league. Seventy-seven out of 392 students - only 19% - from the school scored a CGPA 10.
However, the school principal, AK Singh, said he was not disappointed with the results and the students would perform better in the years to come. “We have done well and the students should not be disappointed; we must not forget that there is always a scope of improvement,” he said.
In Dhanbad, 38 out of 274 students from DAV Koylanagar scored CGPA 10. In Jamshedpur, 21 out of 173 students of St Mary’s High School scored CGPA 10, while Jamshedpur Public School’s 16 students out of 152 bagged the top grade. Out of 237 students from DAV Public School, Bistupur, 30 scored CGPA 10.
