Barring a few stray occurrences at a few places in Rajdhanwar, Jamua, Bengabad and Deori blocks of Giridih, polling passed off peacefully in Koderma parliamentary seat.

However, even after the EC launched campaign to spread awareness among voters, the turnout was moderate to low in Maoist strongholds of Tisri and Deori blocks of the district. About 1,500 villagers of Harila (PS no 106) and 1,000 voters of Manakdih village (PS no 272) boycotted the elections.

They refrained from voting to protest against the apathy of the government for ignoring their demand of power connection.

Vandalising of electronic voting machines were also reported from Rajdhanwar assembly segment in Koderma.

“A few trouble mongers managed to enter the booths and damaged EVMs at PS no 201, 329, 342 and 356 in Rajdhanwar,” Giridih deputy commissioner Diprabha Lakra said.
