Vishnu Kant, a Ranchi based businessman, on Thursday evening jumped off the eighth floor of an apartment at Khelgaon, Hotwar and succumbed to his multiple injuries at RIMS.

Vishnu had allegedly jumped off his neighbour’s flat owned by a retired colonel P Saha.

According to the information given to the police by colonel Saha on Friday, the man entered his house at around 7.15 pm and molested his wife and another female who happens to be Saha’s relative.

When the family raised an alarm, other residents rushed in and apprehended Vishnu, who was made to sit in one of the rooms before the matter was reported to the police. Saha, who was out of the house, was informed about the incident over mobile phone.

Meanwhile, the man got up from his chair and rushed to the balcony from where he jumped off, Saha said. He later accompanied by the victim’s friend, carried Vishnu in his car to shift him to the hospital.

Vishnu’s father LN Choudhary too filed a complaint with the police stating that he got to know about the incident from his younger son Kamal Kant who went to meet his brother at his residence at flat number 701, National Games Housing Complex, Tower-9.”I then rushed to RIMS with Kamal to find my son dead at the hospital’s emergency ward. I was informed by my son’s friend that he fell down from the apartment.

“We have sent the body for autopsy. Investigation is on to find out the truth,” said Devanand Kumar, inspector Sadar police station who is monitoring the investigation.
