Minor tribal gang-raped in Jharkhand, five held

A minor tribal girl was abducted and gang-raped by seven college students in the Bundu police station area in this district on Tuesday night, the police said.

The police have arrested five of the accused. They said the crime was committed when the victim and her male friend were on their way to a relative's house a few kilometres from the Bundu bus stand.

Bundu DSP Naushad Alam said, “Our teams are conducting raids at different places to nab the remaining two accused.”  He said the girl was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

The police said that early on Tuesday the victim and her friend had missed the train to Pune that they were supposed to board. On missing the train they decided to return to their village near Dasam Falls.

"They reached Bundu bus stand around 10pm on Tuesday and decided to stay at the house of her friend's relative. The victim's residence was located in an area deep in the jungle,” Alam said.

The victim and her friend told the police that the seven youths stopped them and started questioning them. They had an argument and the abductors attacked her friend, who escaped and informed his relatives, who in turn told the police.
