The recent reports on maverick director Mani Ratnam meeting Tamil superstar Vijay have grabbed the attention of media in Kollywood. This is not the first time for the local media to report on a possible collaboration between Vijay with Mani Ratnam. A few years ago, when Mani was working on the film adaptation of hit Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan, he had approached Vijay to play the historic character Vandhiya Thevan, but due to budget constraints, the film was dropped.
Vijay had earlier acted in Nerukku Ner, which was produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies and it was a box office hit.
“It’s true that Mani sir’s next will be a multi-starrer with Ram Charan and he is also in talks with a couple of leading Tamil actors including Vikram but nothing has been confirmed yet,” a source close to the development informed HT. “Mani sir will start working on his next project only after the release of Kaatru Veliyidai and until then, it will be a surprise even for his team,” added the source.
Vijay is currently busy with the shoot of the yet-untitled big budget action entertainer with director Atlee, and the film also has three leading heroines--Nithya Menon, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Kajal Aggarwal.
