Baahubali: The Conclusion is not only one of the biggest releases of 2017, it is also one of the most anticipated.
Why? Because everyone wants to know: Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?
While we await the film’s release eagerly - it hits theatres on April 28 - a video posted on Monday sees leading film critic and host Anupama Chopra on the sets of the film, along with director of the movie SS Rajamouli, Baahubali (Prabhas) and his killer Kattappa (played by Sathyaraj).
The video below gives us a sneak peek at the iconic spots of Baahubali - where Kattappa killed Baahubali to aerial shots of the entire kingdom - and we get to meet Prabhas, who plays the character of Amrendra Baahubali in the film.
In the interview, when asked where would Rajamouli be on 29th April, the director told Chopra about Team Baahubali 2’s post-release plans. “29th April, we will be looking at different reports from all over the country and hopefully all of them are going to be very good. And for one week, we will be looking at additional promotions and whatever needs to be looked into. One week after the release, we will be flying away. I don’t know where, but it’s going to be a big, long holiday,” he said.
After investing five years in the project, Team Baahubali surely deserves a long holiday. Lead actor Prabhas admits that after two years, he started feeling monotonous and wanted to take a break. He said that he wanted to do another film in between and come back later for the Baahubali: The Conclusion, but he couldn’t do so.
“I know him (Rajamouli) for 10 years now. He is a big director and Baahubali is the biggest project of India. In between, I took six months break. I wanted to do small films and come back. I couldn’t. Rajamouli’s passion for the film kept us going. Without him, none of us would have been here. Every 10 days, he shows us something which excites us and keeps us bonded and onboard. That is why we could work on the project for four years, else it wouldn’t have happened,” Prabhas said, who further added that he has his next two projects sorted as well.
When Kattappa aka Sathyaraj walked in, of course, the question ‘Why Kattappa killed Baahubali’ had to be asked. But the actor very smartly answered, “Because my director told me to.”
He said that he is extremely overwhelmed with the kind of response the film and his character has got.
“Everyone in the world is asking me the same question: Why Kattappa killed Baahubali? Interestingly, I don’t even get irritated by that question. I knew the character would become famous but had no idea that it would gain so much popularity across the nation. I feel happy about it.”
On being asked if he fears that whatever he does next would not be able to surpass his Kattappa character, he said he does not fear being typecasted as he has done a wide range of characters in his career, from being Virus in the Tamil version of the 3 Idiots to being Amitabh Bachchan in Agneepath’s Tamil remake.
When Prabhas was asked about his future plans, this is what he said: “I think I will go off after the release. May be the first day or I might stay, depends on my situation. I want to go off for a month. But let’s see how it works because SS Rajamouli and everybody would want to celebrate if everything goes well.”
Rajamouli revealed in the same interview that they haven’t tried to make part 2 any different except from bringing in more details.
For Baahubali fans there’s some more good news. The new Baahubali 2 trailer will be out in mid-march, in a grand launch. Rajamouli hasn’t confirmed the date yet, but expect fireworks: Edge-of-the-seat action, mind boggling visuals, eye-popping architecture to dream-like war sequences.
The movie stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamanaah Bhatia and Sathyaraj.
