Post the phenomenal success of Baahubali franchise, it is quite natural to believe that SS Rajamouli can be Hollywood-bound. However, the Makkhi filmmaker says he has his own reservations about working in Hollywood, even if the doors are opened for him. In a Facebook live chat with BBC, he opened up on his Hollywood dreams.

Asked if he aspires to make a Hollywood film, he said he wasn’t sure. He added that he would like to make Indian stories for the world to see. Even if a Hollywood opportunity comes knocking at his door, he said he will have his reservations. He also said he likes to work on India stories because he is well-versed with them. He was also asked about the violence in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and if he feels it had to be done down to not get caught in censorship woes. “Indian epics are full of violence and such stories have shaped India. As filmmakers, I don’t think anyone in India, would tone down violence keeping in mind the censorship.”

With an estimated earnings of over Rs. 600 crore from the first four days across four languages, the second part in the Baahubali franchise is said to have registered the biggest opening for an Indian film. Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan, the film is produced by Arka Media Works.
