After being away from work for over two months for son Abhishek’s wedding to Aishwarya Rai , Amitabh Bachchan returns to shooting again—for Bhojpuri film, Gangotri .
This is the second time that Bachchan has returned to do a Bhojpuri film after a break. He did Ganga , the first part of Gangotri, three months after his discharge from the hospital in December 2005.
Confirming the news, producer Deepak Sawant , who has been Bachchan’s make-up man for three decades now, says, “It’s a big thing for me. I’ll always be obliged to Amitji for doing my movies. He’ll be shooting for five days at Film City, taking forward his character of Thakur from Ganga after his release from prison.”
When Bachchan resumed shooting for Ganga , he shot 27 scenes in three days, creating a record of sorts. Sawant says, “It’s just a coincidence that Amitji returned to work with my productions. Nothing was planned.”
He further adds, “Back then, we just shot his scenes at a normal pace, convenient for him. We’re not making any special efforts to break that record or create a new one, except that we hope the sequel does at least as well as the first movie.”
Manoj Tiwari and Nagma , who played the lead in Ganga, will be there in the sequel. Bhumika Chawla, who has been added to the cast in the sequel, will play the title role of Gangotri.
Ravi Kissen too will be making his presence felt in the sequel. It’s believed that talks are on with Hema Malini, who played Bachchan’s wife in Ganga, to play a cameo in this one.
“Hopefully, Hemaji’s will be in the film,” says Sawant.
