Box office: OK Kanmani, Kanchana 2 strike gold

O Kadhal Kanmani, the film which marks Mani Ratnam's return to the romance genre after a decade, is going strong based on a good word-of-mouth and critics' reviews. A refreshing take on contemporary romance and relationship, the film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Nitya Menen, Prakash Raj.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film has done outstanding business in the US and its Tamil and Telugu versions have made over Rs 1.55 crore in two days.
The film was released in 430 screens in India and 200 screens abroad. Its India box office figures are yet to be confirmed.
Actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence's latest Tamil horror-comedy
has, meanwhile, grossed a whopping Rs.10.83 crore in the first two days in Tamil Nadu since its release on Friday.

"The movie has registered a phenomenal opening of Rs 10.83 crore in two days since its release in Tamil Nadu. At this rate, it's sure to set record opening weekend collections at the ticket window," trade analyst Trinath said.
Directed by Lawrencce, the film is part of the highly successful Kanchana franchise, which opened the floodgates to several horror-comedies in Tamil cinema over the years.
Kanchana 2 also features Taapsee Pannu, Nitya Menen and Kovai Sarla in important roles.
Lawrence has also hinted that Kanchana 3 is in the offing.
