A Telugu writer and enthusiastic filmmaker will make a biographical movie on Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
The film has been titled Chandrodayam (Rise of the Moon), obviously indicating the rise of Chandrababu Naidu - Chandra means the moon in Telugu. It will take off at Ongole in the coastal Andhra district of Prakasam on August 4 with deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa giving the first clap for the mahurat shot.
“The shooting will take place in Ongole, Vijayawada, Amalapuram, Yanam and Hyderabad and is expected to be completed by October. We are planning to release the film in December,” Pasupuleti Venkata Ramana, director and story writer of the film, told Hindustan Times.
The script is based on the life of Naidu – right from the days of his childhood to his rise in politics to become the chief minister of the state.
“Since 1999, I have written a few books on the life of Naidu and based on these books, I prepared the script. My intention is to convey a message to the people how Naidu had struggled to come up in life and strived for their welfare,” Ramana said.
“After the bifurcation, the people had given Naidu yet another chance, only because they had a strong belief in his vision and efficiency. The film will showcase his efforts to put Hyderabad on the global map in the past and his present struggle to build Amaravati as a global capital city,” he added.
Ramana has written the script in such a way that Naidu’s character will not be visible anywhere in the film.
“Though it is a biopic on Naidu, there is no lead character resembling him. The story revolves around four youth, who play the role of journalists, and they would get inspired by the people’s leader. But, Naidu’s invisible presence is felt in every scene because it is his life story,” he said.
Ramana said it will not be a docu-feature film and has all the elements of a typical commercial film. There are four actresses in the film and six songs by music director Raj Kiran.
Besides upcoming actors, some of the most popular Telugu actors like Tanikella Bharani, Jayaprakash Reddy, Brahmanandam and Ravi Babu will also be acting in the film, he added.
TDP corporator from Vijayawada Kakumanu Mallikharjuna Yadav, who is supervising the production of the film, said Chandrodayam would be dedicated to Naidu.
“We have his blessings for the film and we hope it would enhance his image as a popular politician,” he said.
