Director Faisal Saif back with a biopic titled Amma on J Jayalalithaa

Director Faisal Saif (who was in news for his controversial book Main Hoon Rajinikanth) is back with a fresh offering, a new film called Amma. The film stars Sandalwood queen Ragini Dwivedi as Jaya Malini, and is said to be based on Tamil Nadu politico and former actor J Jayalalithaa.

The film was in news when the director decided to alter the storyline of the film immediately after the arrest of Jayalalithaa in 2014. The film explores the life of a film actor turned politician. Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, playing a eunuch, is the antagonist. The film also stars Prashant Narayanan who won accolades for his work in Murder 2. The film is a multilingual and will release in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously.

Rejecting claims that his political thriller is based on the life of Jayalalitha, Faisal Saif says, "My film is not based on anyone in any which ways. Amma is a purely commercial film with great performances. Please leave me alone on this."

The film's producer Dr CR Manohar who is a politician too.
