The success of SS Rajamouli’s Hindi-dubbed version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, that made a whopping
Rs.510 crore net, has opened avenues for regional films in the Hindi film market. Taking a cue from the same, actor-producer Dhanush is all set to cash in on the same audience for his next Tamil release, Vellai Illa Pattadhari 2, also known as VIP 2, and has released the trailer of the film in Hindi.

The Hindi dubbed version of VIP 2 has been titled Lalkar so as to reach out to the audience in Northern India. In fact, VIP 2 will also be dubbed in Telugu. Interestingly, given how well Baahubali 2 and Dangal have fared in the overseas market, Dhanush it seems also might follow that path too.

“Nobody can take away the success of Baahubali, especially what it has done to Indian cinema. It has really given us a great lesson. Even Dangal for that matter, what it did in the overseas market is unbelievable. It’s phenomenal! Perhaps we were under-estimating our market. And we cannot deny the fact that the aforementioned films have given us a boost.” Danush told India Today.

VIP 2 also has Kajol playing a pivotal role. The film also marks her comeback to Tamil cinema. Talking to the publication the actor added, “For that matter, look at Avengers in the Hindi-dubbed version. It’s not only us to them (Hollywood); it’s them to us (Bollywood) as well. It’s like an entire market has opened up both ways. The only takeaway is that nothing can stop a good film. And you can take it anywhere.”

Revealing more about his plans, Dhanush also added, “I think that circle is shrinking and it’s going to be gone very soon. It’s easier to expand your boundaries and explore new regions for your films now. It’s healthy, especially right now with digital platforms taking over.” VIP 2, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, is expected to release on July 28.
