Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, otherwise seen in stylish avatar onscreen, will soon be essaying a non-glamorous role in Vada Chennai, to be directed by Kaaka Muttai director Vetrimaaran. She will play a slum dweller in the film. Vada Chennai is a two-part film starring Dhanush as the main lead. To be set against the backdrop of North Madras, the film will chronicle 30 years in the life of a gangster.
“Samantha will play a slum girl in the film and she’s also most likely to dub in her own voice. Playing a character with a tan and no make-up, she will also pick up the local accent,” said a source from the film’s unit.
The film will roll from next year and Dhanush has already set aside nearly 200 days for its shoot. This will be the second time in a row Samantha will be teaming up with Dhanush, who had previously worked with her in upcoming Tamil film Thanga Magan.
