‘I am in a festive mood throughout the year’
Tejaswini Pandit will be in Pune this year to celebrate Diwali with her mom and sister
Actor Tejaswini Pandit is in love with festivals. Be it Ganeshotsav or New Year, the 100 Days actor is in the festive spirit throughout the year. “Diwali always remains a special festival. And, I am in a festive mood through the year. When I was a kid and when my dad was around he would burst a sutali bomb (cracker) near our window. The sound would wake us up and this would be our start to the Diwali celebrations. From dahi pohe to kala chana usal, we followed all the traditions to the T,” says Tejaswini.
The actor will be in Pune this year to celebrate Diwali with her mom and sister. “I will start the day with applying ubtan (a paste made of coconut oil, turmeric and chickpea flour) then follow it with faral (Diwali snacks). I really miss those old days when we would celebrate with everyone in the colony and have friends and family over. It is unfortunate that children nowadays do not get to experience the fun and festivities like before.”
Tejaswini stopped bursting crackers at the age of 13 and continues to promote a noiseless Diwali. “As a generation we were luckier as we got to experience the real essence of festivals. An event or festival meant coming together of people and having a good time, unlike now when caste, religion and other irrelevant factors are dragged in.”
She is also looking forward to drawing rangoli outside the front door of her home. “I love colours and though I am not an expert in rangoli, I love drawing it at the entrance. I am also excited about the new festive collection that I recently launched where I have experimented with designer jacket blouses.”
