Rajinikanth’s last outing, Lingaa, may not have fared well on the box office but the buzz around his upcoming gangster film Kabali is quite high. A new poster of the film was shared by its director Pa Ranjith on social media on Saturday. The poster shows Rajinikanth emerging from a hole (or some kind of a pit) even as hundreds of people cling on to him. The hole is ringed by images of skyscrapers with one resembling the Petronas Towers, a reference to Malaysia, where part of the film has been being shot.

Kabali is based on the life of a Chennai-based real-life don Kabaleeshwaran. Rajinikanth plays an ageing don in the film. Slated to release in May, it also features Radhika Apte, Dhanshikaa, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan and Ritwika in important roles.

Kabali will be Rajinikanth’s 159th film and that explains the excitement among his fans.
