The Tamil remake of Queen will be called Paris Paris and will see Kajal Aggarwal play Kangana Ranaut’s character. Actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind will direct it.

Basking in the success of Ajith’s Vivegam, actor Kajal Aggarwal is gearing up to commence work on her next Tamil film, Paris Paris, a remake of Kangana Ranaut’s Queen. On Sunday, the project was officially launched in Chennai and an elated Kajal is proud to be part of the project. Speaking on the occasions, Kajal said, “It’s a project very close to my heart. When I saw Queen, I told myself I’d love to adapt the film in some other language. We’d like to prove a point with this project.” She will reprise Kangana’s role in the film.

At the event, when asked if she’d be able to do justice to Kangana’s performance, Kajal didn’t mince her words and said: “I’m not looking forward to filling in anyone’s shoes in this role. We are recreating the film in another language. I treat this as an original, in my own way.” The film will be directed by actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind, best known for helming Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain. Ramesh is also directing the film’s Kannada version which is titled Butterfly, and has already gone on the floors. Parul Yadav plays the lead in Butterfly.

Ramesh said he is proud to be associated with the project. “It’s an honour to be a part of this project. I’m directing the Kannada as well as Tamil versions. We are delighted to collaborate with Kajal whom I consider the perfect combination of beauty, talent and enthusiasm.” The film’s story will be set in Virudhunagar (in Tamil Nadu) and will travel to Paris and then to Barcelona and London. The Tamil version was originally planned with Tamannaah Bhatia while Revathy was supposed to direct. Manjima Mohan is believed to feature in the Malayalam version of the film.
