Khushbu and Rajinikanth worked in a number of films together including Annamalai and Mannan.

Ace actor Khushbu Sundar, who made her silver screen debut in Rajinikanth’s 1988 film Dharmathin Thalaivan, is likely to play an important role in Rajinikanth’s next yet-to-be-named project with director Pa Ranjith.

After sharing the screen space with Rajinikanth and Prabhu in her debut movie, Khushbu successfully starred in blockbuster hits of Rajinikanth’s films such as director Suresh Krishna’s Annamalai and P Vasu’s Mannan in the year 1992.

If Khushbu officially comes on board, the project will mark her reunion with Rajinikanth after 25 years on screen. An official announcement is awaited from the team. Produced by Dhanush’s home banner Wunderbar Films, the movie is expected to go on floors in June.

Vidya Balan is in the running to play the lead heroine in the project. After reports surfaced in a section of media about Deepika Padukone being considered for the role, Ranjith promptly denied it on his micro-blogging page.
