Like it happens with a lot of Malayalam films, hit film Premam is on its way to getting remade, this time in Telugu. It will star actor Naga Chaitanya. "Chaitanya will essay the role originally played by Nivin Pauly. Chandoo Mondeti, who shot to fame with the Telugu thriller Karthikeya, will direct the remake," said a source privy to the development.

S Radha Krishna of Haarika and Hassine creations banner will produce the film. The rest of the cast is in the process of being finalised. The project is expected to go on floors later this year or in early 2016. Premam, which has emerged as one of the biggest Malayalam hits, is the coming-of-age love story of its protagonist spanning through over a decade at different stages in life.

Naga Chaitanya is currently busy shooting for a yet-untitled Telugu action-drama with Gautham Vasudev Menon.
