With all the hype around the Gymkhana elections and a not so easy to obtain membership, Delhi’s staid clubs are piled up with applications of keen clubbers who want to join the elite class of networking Delhiites. Plenty of closely guarded doors, from India International Centre to Indian Habitat Centre, are thronged by the city’s power players who come here to relax, talk business, and network.
Distinguished social clubs like Gymkhana and Chelmsford Club have been around for over 100 years and are highly sought after with a waiting period of at least three decades. What with a chance to rub elbows with famous personalities, good food and amenities, the long waiting lists are no deterrent for eager clubbers. But all these perks are, for most, just out of reach.New clubs and meet-ups which have come up in the city are a boon to many who want to interact the traditional way and unwind after a long week.
