In less than 24 hours, the motion poster of Mohanlal’s Odiyan, in which he looks very young and totally unrecognizable, has clocked over 2 million views and numbers are still adding up. The motion poster, which is powered by a haunting score, instantly became viral and fans of the Pulimurugan star went gaga. The film is already being promoted as the biggest film in Malayalam industry in terms of budget and that has created quite a buzz. In the film, Mohanlal plays Odiyan Manikkan, last surviving member of a long-extinct tribal community in Kerala.

To be directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, who will also helm Mohanlal’s Rs 1000 crore project, the film is set in pre-electricity era. According to history, Odiyan is a shape-shifting assassin and Mohanlal is said to be playing one such character in the film. The project, which also stars Manju Warrier, is likely to roll from August. Prakash Raj is expected to play a pivotal role in the film, to be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. National Award winning scriptwriter Harikrishnan has penned the script for the film and the production design will be done by Sabu Cyril, while Shaji Kumar will crank the camera.

The music in the motion poster is already being spoken about. Talking about the music, Mohanlal had posted on his Facebook page that he is lucky to have been part of many beautiful movies, which had lovely songs. He added that without those songs, many of his characters would have been incomplete.
