The dubbed Telugu version of the hit Tamil romantic-drama Raja Rani raked in Rs.2.01 crore in its opening weekend. Trade analyst Trinath calls it "an exceptional start" for a dubbed movie.

The Telugu version was released Friday.

"It's an exceptional start for a dubbed film. Raja Rani has collected Rs.2.01 crore gross in its opening weekend. It's been a long time since a Tamil movie dubbed in Telugu has turned out to be a hit. The film is on the verge of becoming a hit," Trinath told IANS.

The original, directed by debutant Atlee Kumar, minted over Rs.50 crore at the box office last year.

The film, which features Arya, Jai, Nayantara and Nazriya Nazim, revolves around a love story between two couples post marriage.

A.R. Murugadoss, Fox Star Studios and The Next Big Films jointly produced Raja Rani.
