Actor Rajasekhar’s comeback film PSV Garuda Vega, a Rs 25 crore action spectacle, has opened to raving reviews and it has even earned the praise of megastar Chiranjeevi, who is said to have been very impressed with the film. Having watched the film at a special screening, Chiranjeevi described it as the perfect comeback film for Rajasekhar, who hasn’t been in great form in the past. However, he seems to have found his mojo in the film where he plays a National Intelligence Agency (NIA) officer.

Directed by Praveen Sattaru, the film opened in cinemas on Friday to rousing response from all quarters. Critics and audiences hailed it as one of Telugu cinema’s best high-tech action thrillers. Talking to Hindustan Times, director Sattaru had said his film will be in the same space as Die Hard and The Bourne series. “I have the satisfaction of having made a film that may be said to be in the similar space as a Die Hard. I had written this story in 2006. The soul of it has remained intact, but the scale has increased by leaps and bounds. Earlier, it was a cop’s story. I changed it to an NIA officer’s story. When I wanted to do a film like this, only Rajasekhar came to my mind. The script was modified keeping his age and body language in mind.”

On making a film on the backdrop of NIA, he said: “With a secretive agency like the NIA, you have the freedom to write anything and convince the audience that such things can happen. That freedom you have with a sleuth’s story. It’s because most of their operations are secretive and people don’t know much about their modus operandi.” The film also stars Pooja Kumar, Shraddha Das and Adith Arun in pivotal roles.
