We went through testing times: Tejas Deoskar
Director Tejas Deoskar is happy, proud and content with how his upcoming film has shaped up
Director Tejas Deoskar is excited and not nervous ahead of the release of his third film. The Premsutra (2013) director has brought the dancing diva of Bollywood Madhuri Dixit Nene to Marathi cinema with the film Bucket List. While the audience is complimenting the team for the slice of life story, Tejas adds that the process has not been an easy one. “We went through some testing times. Today, when we are nearing the date of release we are happy, proud and content with the film. However, it has not been an easy journey. Ashok and Aarti (Subhedar, co-producers of the film) and I only know what has gone behind the making of this film. We stood by each other and ensured everything went on smoothly,” says Tejas, who has already begun planning his next project.
His next film will have him involved creatively and most of it is already on paper. He says, “I won’t be directing it but will be creatively producing it. It will go on floors after the monsoons. My yardstick to identify a film is the story and what excites me about it. I have to know the end, it could be an open end but there needs to be something that excites me.”
So, when not making films or shooting, what keeps him occupied? “Honestly, writing is what I enjoy the most. The second thing that keeps me occupied is researching for stories. I have been trained in a way where I am constantly seeking stories. In fact, this idea too was through a web search when I came across a small news item,” says Tejas.
Tejas admits that he has not let fame or connections with stalwarts affect his thought process. “I don’t live in an ivory tower and I am aware of where I stand. I don’t get affected by the stardom of my cast. My wife Juilee is the filmy person. She is the one who gives me filmy gossip and keeps me updated. She brings about the balance,” he says.
