There's one big question doing the rounds in Tollywood these days. Who will actor-director Arindam Sil cast as Byomkesh Bakshi and Ajit in his next film, Har Har Byomkesh, based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's Bahni Patanga from the Byomkesh Bakshi series. If sources are to be believed, Sil has managed a casting coup of sorts and has roped in Abir Chatterjee and Ritwick Chakraborty to play Byomkesh and Ajit respectively.

This is, however, not the first time that Abir will be playing Byomkesh. The actor had earlier played the iconic Bengali sleuth in three of Anjan Dutt's Byomkesh films, Byomkesh Bakshi (2010), Abar Byomkesh (2012) and Byomkesh Phire Elo (2014). The source further informs that the film will be extensively shot in Benaras.

Naturally, the pairing of Abir and Ritwick has generated a lot of curiosity even before the official announcement. Sil, who prefers to remain tight-lipped, took to Facebook a few days ago and asked the audience, who would they want to see as Byomkesh and Ajit in his film. The question instantly fetched a lot of responses with quite a few of Sil's followers expressing their desire to see Abir as Byomkesh and Ritwick as Ajit in the film. Well, did that help Sil take a final call?

Sil had earlier spoken highly on Ritwick's acting calibre in numerous interviews. Abir too has earned a lot of praise as Byomkesh in Dutt's films. The actor though later left Anjan Dutt's Byomkesh franchise after he decided to play Feluda in Sandip Ray's Badshahi Angti in 2014.

Byomkesh Phire Elo and Badshahi Angti clashed at the box office in December, 2014, but both the films went onto become blockbusters. It was indeed a rare instance in Tollywood where the same actor played both Feluda and Byomkesh and still enjoyed roaring success. Abir was surely the lucky mascot.

Interestingly, Sil's last film, Ebar Shabor (2015), too had Abir and Ritwick in pivotal roles and the film went on to become a major success.
