An off-beat film festival promises to highlight the quality, range, and vitality of contemporary Taiwanese filmmaking. Leon Dai's, I Can't Live without You, for instance, one of the highlights of the fest, was described by the International Film Festival of India jury in Goa as "poetic,
realistic and beautifully designed."

Based on real life characters, the film is the sensitive story of a father and his seven-year-old daughter who face separation due to bureaucracy.

Along with The Wall, it is one of the two IFFI-Goa award winning films to be screened exclusively for Indian viewers. Other attractions: Cape No 7, Yang Yang and Blue Brave: The Legend of Formosa.

For details, call the Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre at 46077777.
